Our Board of Directors
In September 2020 our long-standing chairman, Stephen Niven, is to retire from Care Housing Association (Care). Stephen has been instrumental in guiding Care through ever-changing and, on occasion, difficult times over the last 9 years. He has used his experience as a qualified accountant in the property and retail market to help Care establish stability and strong foundations to meet the challenges ahead. He has helped the Association grow 4-fold in terms of the number of tenants we serve. Stephen will be greatly missed by the organisation, as will vice-chair John Thompson who has served over the same period. John, a hugely experienced person within the social housing sector who also has his own surveying practice, has utilised his business, governance and housing sector acumen to help Care maintain our trajectory of growth, whilst also balancing risk against financial and regulatory expectations.
To try and help fill the gap left by John and Stephen, we have successfully recruited 3 more Board members. Details about all our directors can be found on the ‘about us’ section of our website (click here). We are confident that the recruitment of Bernard, Nadhia and Roger will provide the skills and experience to effectively respond to the challenges we’ll face over the next decade.
Our Board continues to hold a vast amount of experience in the financial, housing, charitable and care provider sectors. Despite being a small organisation, we have always been successful in recruiting independent, voluntary directors of a very high calibre and we are proud that they share our values and commitment to improving the lives of our tenants by providing high quality accommodation.
