Earlier in 2020, our Board established a fund to be used to support other charities in the disability sector. At the time, we couldn’t have foreseen the impact that the current pandemic would have on charities, which makes this commitment all the more crucial. The fund has so far assisted a Lancashire-based dance company to put on sessions during lockdown, and more recently committed to funding training equipment and pitch hire for a Special Educational Needs football team in Rossendale, where our office is.
Our most recent commitment is to a children’s disability charity, Newlife. Newlife provides essential equipment such as specialist beds, wheelchairs, communication aids, specialist seating, and sensory/therapy equipment to disabled and terminally ill children across the UK. Matthew, our CEO, is running a double marathon (!) on 5th December – further than he has ever run before – to raise money for Newlife, and the Board has committed to match-fund any sponsorship monies raised (to a maximum of £1000) with a minimum £500 donation guaranteed!
