Our tenant in Lancashire moved into his new home almost two years ago.  Previously he was a long stay hospital in-patient for over ten years.  Lots of work ensured the property was suitable to meet his needs and to facilitate his hospital discharge.  After many transition visits with his care team, our tenant finally moved in March 2021.

Our tenant had specific requests for his new home, which Care Housing was happy to oblige. He wanted his extensive collection of trains and train tracks set up in the back room and to buy himself a green velvet settee and a new double bed with a green velvet headboard.

Over the coming months, our tenant continued to flourish and started exploring the local area and finding where the local shops were, finding his favourite fish and chip shop and going on local walks around the countryside.

With support from his staff team, our tenant has now signed himself up for local activities such as arts and crafts, cooking, and gardening. Our tenant has now made many friends in the community and met up with some old acquaintances. The cherry on the cake is our tenant is about to take delivery of his first mobility car which will now enable him to gain even more independence and start going further afield, especially to his favourite seaside destination Blackpool.

This shows that with careful planning and communication between all parties, the right house can become the right home and enable people to flourish in all other areas of their life.
