This is Debbie
I love my HOME!!!
I love being able to make my own choices about how I can decorate, and make my safe space feel friendly and welcoming to my family and friends.
I love being in a location where I can access the community easily.
I also love having the support around me to help me maintain and manage my home.
This is Tracey, she has lived independently within one of Care Housing’s Schemes in Nottingham. She is supported by Aspirations Care who have staff on site in a pod which is separate from the properties, but close enough to help our tenants when they need them and to provide support for the tenant as per their care and support plan. Claire A visited her the other day to find out about how she feels about her home.
I was in independent living before, I shared with three other girls and I liked it there, I was very happy. I didn’t want to move, but it was damp and mouldy, and it had a big hole in the floor. I live in my own flat now and there are staff who I can go to if I need a little bit of help, like sometimes I need help because I had broken my arm in the winter after a fall. I love my home now and I want to stay for a long time. I have 2 cats and I love looking after them and I can have my friends and family visit when they want to. I am proud of my home.
Tracey had also had a new hairdo at the time of the visit, and she wanted to show everyone how lovely she looked.
This is John, one of Care Housing tenants living in the Rossendale area for the last 12 months who has thrived in his new home.
Previously John lived in the Hyndburn area and was having a difficult time living there due to the fact there were a lot of ASB. The local kids were making his life a misery by constantly banging on windows and doors, trying to force entry, name calling and shouting obscenities and generally making John’s life a misery. This caused John a lot of anxiety and he became withdrawn.
Fortunately 12 months ago the opportunity came up to move to one of our properties. From visiting the property to moving in John has started to flourish. He has become very house proud. He has started to make the house his home. Hanging baskets either side of his front door, planted new shrubs in his front garden, he’s bought himself a new shed in his back garden and his home is lovely, cosy, and very well kept. The views from John’s home of the countryside are amazing. John gets on very well with his neighbours.
John loves going out to the local towns shopping as the bus route is right on his doorstep. John always thanks Care Housing staff on allowing him to move into his new home.
